A Heartfelt Goodbye (for Now)

Wrapping Up the Newsletter with the Phu Quoc Series

As the seasons shift once again, so too does my focus—and with it, this newsletter will be taking a well-deserved rest until I head off for warmer shores later this year. Before I go, I wanted to leave you with something special—an update on my ongoing creative journey that I hope will inspire a little wanderlust and warmth in your own life.

I can’t live far from a beach!!

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that the Phu Quoc Series has become a deeply personal and imaginative project, born from my time spent on the island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. This story series blends gentle romance, cultural exploration, and soul-searching moments amidst the stunning tropical backdrop of this remarkable island. It’s not just a setting—it’s a character in itself, rich with color, cuisine, and charm.

The series began with Sunset Serenade in Phu Quoc, where readers were introduced to Lena, a woman at a crossroads, and Adrien, a quiet soul carrying his own story. Their chance meeting in the fading light of a beach sunset opened the door to a slow, emotional unfolding of connection, healing, and adventure.

Following the debut, I’ve been working on Sketches in the Sand, the second installment. This continuation delves deeper into Lena and Adrien’s budding relationship as they explore the island together—its markets, waterfalls, hidden beaches, and whispers of history. It’s a love story, yes, but more than that, it’s about discovery—both of self and of place.

The are 5 books in total, an easy read, and although the people and places are real, the story is completely a contemporary romance that we all dream of some time in our lives!

Writing the Phu Quoc Series has given me the chance to reflect on my own experiences traveling and living abroad, and to infuse fiction with the authenticity of real moments, real people, and real transformation. It’s a tribute to meaningful travel and the unexpected lessons it brings.

As I press pause on the newsletter, I’ll be continuing to write, dream, and plan my return to Southeast Asia. When I next reach out, I’ll likely be doing so with the ocean breeze in my hair and a fresh wave of inspiration to share with you.

Until then, I encourage you to catch up on the Phu Quoc Series (or start from the beginning if you haven’t yet), let your imagination wander, and maybe even plan your own tropical escape.

Thank you for being part of this journey. See you again when the air turns cold here and I head toward the sun once more.

Warmly,
Lisa Marie MacLeod
