Hiking Tiên Sơn Đỉnh
A Journey to Fairy Mountain Peak

Nestled on the stunning Phú Quốc Island in Vietnam, Tiên Sơn Đỉnh, also known as Fairy Mountain Peak, offers adventurers a chance to escape into nature and conquer a moderately challenging hike. Located in the Hàm Ninh area, this 450-meter-high peak is a gem for travelers seeking breathtaking landscapes, lush tropical forests, and a touch of local charm.
The Trekking Experience: A Personal Take
Our group set out on a cloudy morning, excited for the adventure ahead. Although we had hoped for crystal-clear vistas from the summit, the weather had other plans. The clouds obscured some of the panoramic views over Phú Quốc’s southern coastline, but the cool weather turned out to be a blessing. The hike, while officially described as "moderate," felt like more of a challenge for those not accustomed to steep climbs. With sections requiring ropes and wooden ladders, it’s safe to say this trek demands a decent level of fitness.
The trail begins at Café Tiên Sơn Đỉnh, where visitors can park their motorcycles and gear up for the journey. From there, the pathway winds through dense rainforests, with the sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves accompanying every step. Towering trees, vibrant creepers, and vines create a tranquil atmosphere that makes the climb as beautiful as it is demanding.
As we ascended, we paced ourselves to take in the surroundings and save our energy. The true challenge, however, came on the descent. Navigating the steep, rocky trail downhill required extra caution to avoid slips or falls—our sore muscles the next day were proof of the effort involved!
What Awaits at the Summit
At the peak, we found a large flat boulder that doubles as a perfect resting spot and viewpoint. Despite the cloud cover, there were glimpses of the sprawling coastline, the distant airport, and An Thới port, hinting at how spectacular the view would be on a clear day.
The sense of accomplishment at the top made it all worthwhile. For those considering a picnic, this spot is hard to beat. Just remember to leave no trace to preserve the beauty of the area.
When and How to Visit
The best time to hike Tiên Sơn Đỉnh is during the dry season, from November to May, when the trails are less slippery and the skies clearer. Starting early in the morning or later in the afternoon ensures cooler temperatures for a more pleasant climb.
Access to the trail is free, and while a guide isn’t necessary, we recommend supporting local businesses by grabbing a drink or snack at Café Tiên Sơn Đỉnh before you begin. Pack plenty of water, wear sturdy shoes, and bring snacks to keep your energy up.
Why Choose Tiên Sơn Đỉnh?
This trail remains relatively unknown to international tourists, making it a peaceful and rewarding experience for those who venture off the beaten path. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a nature lover looking for a bit of a challenge, Tiên Sơn Đỉnh offers a refreshing escape into the heart of Phú Quốc’s natural beauty.
Despite the sore muscles and cloudy skies, our hike to Fairy Mountain Peak left us with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for the rugged charm of Vietnam's landscapes. If you’re up for the adventure, take it slow, enjoy the journey, and prepare for an experience that will leave you both humbled and inspired.

Now, that’s what I call a tree!

There are ladders set up to help you reach the top.

We thought going up was a challenge, going down was just as difficult!
